Creme Brulee (Imperial Milk Stout)
Southern Tier Brewing Company
Lakewood, NY
9.20% ABV
Style: American Double/Imperial Stout
C: Super Dark
H: BLACKKKKKKKK
N: Once again dessert in a glass; Toffee, Caramel, Sugar
The Ferm; Had this bad boy off draft from The Coffee District in Delray Beach. Served in a bad ass St. Bernardus “Pimp Cup” aka chalice. Like the Kuhnhenn which was reviewed yesterday this beer is just like shoving your face in a huge dish of Creme Brulee.
The taste of the beer follows to a tee the way it smells. Southern Tier could rename this beer Toffee because that flavor overpowers everything on the initial attack. Don’t get me wrong I like Toffee but JEEEZZZZZZ. Hints of caramel and coffee linger but nothing that stands out. This would be pretty challenging to drink a whole bomber by myself. Though I think I could handle it.
Overall I felt that the Kuhnhenn Creme Brulee was better simply because it was more balanced all around. Although I would not discount the Southern Tier version. They are both VERY GOOD!

Creme Brulee Java Stout
Kuhnhenn Brewing Company
Warren, MI
5.80% ABV
Style: American Stout
C: Too Dark to Tell
H: Dark Brown/Black
N: If dessert was a beer….Espresso, Semi-Sweet Chocolate and Burnt/Caramelized Sugar
The Ferm: Holy Cow! How about some dessert before dinner. This beer is just down right sexual. Kuhnhenn has learned how to bottle sexy-ness in a bottle.
The nose follows up in the taste. Tons of espresso, almost like freshly roasted, attacks and then PoW-PoW a combination of Sugar, Cinnamon, and Chocolate follow up for the sneak attack. The flavors linger for quite some time and I LOVE IT!
While I have had the “other” Creme Brulee Stout from Southern Teir…well I wont say which I like better, as they are pretty close in flavor. Stay tuned to tomorrow to see which I liked more!

Mainly the webservers for the Bruery Shop was crashed by the volume of traffic that was known as “Black Tuesday Ticket Sales”. The servers crashed before the tickets went on sale, but have no fear the crew has fixed the problem and tickets will go on sale for the event tomorrow 09/2/2010 at 9am PST.

So this will give everyone else one more day to find a mule to pick up bottles for them at the release.

Ahh well I know I am lazy lately…I think it’s called a blogger wall. In fact I think we all hit it at some point. I have gone from a blog a day to 3 reviews and a rant a week. You have my word I will refocus…and bring you more video blogs and more reviews!
Honestly the only guy that doesnt hit a blogger wall is Beer Drinker from DailyBeerReview.com, seriously Rob is wise in his old age (ha!)
Well if you are wondering what I have been up to lately, and dont follow me on twitter or facebook (shame on you!, follow me now!). I have cut down my weekly drinking days in hope to get myself back into shape. Ohh yah and I have also joined forces with Miguel (Mike from Mikelovesbeer.com) on a new beer adventure.

This beer adventure goes by the name of United We Drink. It is a bi-weekly podcast that discusses all things beer. Well almost all things, seeing that you read my blog you probally can guess it isnt very serious. You’re right, but I can promise that there is a lot of Beer News hidden between jokes. We are covering local, regional, and national beer news.
The first episode it available over at UnitedWeDrink.com and we will soon be on Itunes for your Podcasting pleasure. Check it out!
Btw, while I am not drinking as much during the week, I promise you some good, rare reviews in the very near future!

The Iron Tankard
Terrapin Beer Company
Athens, Ga
9.40% ABV
Style: Old Ale
C: Clear
H: Amber
N: Sweet Fruit, Dark Candy Sugars, Brown Sugar, Figs, Plumbs, Raisins, etc.
Beer Drinker ; So Phil, didn’t you bring this guy to the party? Georgia Theatre Iron Tankard, an Old Stock Ale brewed by that turtle brewery in Georgia. I don’t have a lot of details except that a guy in Georgia told me that this was only available in Athens (not Greece) and Atlanta. And Abraxas, LOL. Obviously they wanted to be cool spelling theater with an RE ending. This was bottle 2590 of 4884, and if that is some drug reference, well, I am not a user. A little spicy, nutty with caramel. Plenty of booze to go around. Too flat. Dry finish. I guess what I’m saying is that it’s OK that Braves fans were stuck with this. Go Phils (not you Phil)!
Score: 2.545
The Ferm: Well big thanks to my boy @JByce in Georgia for picking this one up for me, so I could share it with several friends. I have always had a close place in my heart for Terrapin Beers.
The Iron Tankard Old Ale had a very pleasant mouth feel, it was medium bodied, and had a hint of alcohol burn. Malt was all over this bad boy, but it was really a nice drink even after it warmed up just a bit. I enjoyed it a lot, and am sorta disappointed it is a one off. Once again Terrapin the “KING of One Off Beers”!
