Miguel; My first tasting of anything strictly by Russian River is Pliny the Elder. This one gets a lot of hype with beer geeks online. Big grapefruit hops in the nose and in the mouth. There are some good pine notes in the taste too. There is a decent amount of malt backing to it.. But does this live up to the hype? Not really. It is a good DIPA but Maharaja is still my favorite in the category.

Ferm; Ok, so I was lucky enough to find someone to trade a bottle of Winter Warmer Cigar City for this beer. It was a solid, actually REALLY solid IPA. Strong Grapefruit bitterness to this sexy bitch, with just a subtle amount of sweetness. The head was a perfect color white and pretty strong. Sadly, I think this beer is a bit over-hyped and I’m not really sure why. It is a great IPA, but it defiantly wasn’t life changing. I highly recommend getting your hand on one of these just to say that you have tried it. This is a true Beer Geek Beer, hard to find, and popular. This is right up my alley of IPA’s.
