2010 NewTimes Beerfest TONIGHT

Ahh the morning before a festival, I guarnatee I feel better this morning in comparision to tomorrow morning. Why?!?

Tonight is the 2010 NewTimes Beerfest in Ft. Lauderdale Florida.

The Festival includes about 50 Breweries total and over 100 beers, Food, and always a good time. You can check out the list of the breweries by clicking HERE. While I personally know that 2 of the breweries pulled out this past week, the show should be pretty fun tonight.

If your going look for a few things.

1.  The Funky Buddha will be out and about tonight pouring two of their HomeBrews which will be sold at their new “brew-pub” in Boca. I have had them both and they are VERRRYY Tasty. Make sure you look out for them.

2.  Similarly, BX Depot will be out there sharing some of their HomeBrew goodness with the crowds tonight. They always bring some really tasty stuff. Great beer people!

3.  Amongst a sea of Macro Breweries make sure you stop by the following local Mico-Beer tents; NATIVE, Holy Mackerel, Jupiter (Monk in the Trunk). These three can usually be found near each other. GREAT Local Beer!

4.  Finally, Look for me, Cerveza Chica, El Guapo, Miguel, and this upcoming weeks guest blogger Eduardo. We will all be scattered about pouring at the festival. I can personally say I will be up in VIP pouring the Hard Stuff “liquor” with Crown Spirits.

Ok, so those are the highlights of the show. I would also reccomend purchasing your tickets before. Where?!? Just click this link —> Tickets. GA is $25 and VIP is $75 in advance. Expect the price to jump about 5 bucks if you buy at the gate.

I recommend VIP for a few reasons. It’s inside (AC), indoor bathrooms, the crowd should be a bit less than whats in GA, you get to say hi to me (thats worth $75 right there!), expanded food selection, open exhibits in the museum, and there is going to be wine and liquor instead of just beer.

Hope to see you out there!

Best Damn Brew Review – Review

If you follow me on twitter, or are a friend on facebook then you may have seen that myself and Cerveza Chica were working the Best Damn Brew Review in Hallandale last night.

This was the first time that we have worked a beer festival, and needless to say it didn’t disappoint.

Thanks to Ian, from FreshBeer, we were put on the new Summit Beer Table and got to pour their Extra Pale Ale and the Red Ale. Check them out at Summit Brewery.

Ok, so I got to pour good beer, talk with some other bloggers, meet some “friends” from facebook, and mingle with some of my blog readers….sounds perfect right? Well for the most part yes. The down side is that I was exposed to what Fresh Beer and all other distributors see on a daily basis. Plain and simple; Most people don’t give a damn what is in their cup. Its sad that you can have a great convo going with someone and they are talking about Beer Wars the Movie and then they turn around and tell you that “Beer is Beer, just fill my cup.”

Sad, yes, but also a great opportunity to teach and educate. Case and point had a guy walk up last night in the beginning of the event that wanted to try all the beers there. He sampled the Summit and the Shiner products checked them off his list and came back several times for the Summit Red. His words “I came here with a friend and an open mind, and I found my new favorite beer. I typically drink BudLight but I have fallen in love with the Summit Red.”

So while I’m on my SoapBox preaching to my reading audience, I have to remind you that we need to embrace the ignorance, they simply don’t know better. Talk to them, put a fresh micro in their hand and ask them simply, “What do you like about this beer?” Micro drinkers know that we drink beer with more flavor than the big box boys, so continue to share.

Alright enough of that. Last night was a blast. It was always a pleasure to rub elbows with Mike from Mikelovesbeer.com, Brian Ed and Vanessa from Total Wine, Chris Ian and Adam from FreshBeer, and many others.

Cheers….na wait…BEERSSSS!
